Greek divers have discovered an Italian submarine at the bottom of the Aegean Sea<\/strong> that disappeared 80 years ago<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The submarine “Jantina<\/strong>” leaves the Greek island of Leros <\/strong>with 48 sailors on board, but was sunk by a torpedo fired by the British submarine <\/strong>“HMS Torbey<\/strong>” on July 5, 1941<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Italian submarine was used for naval battles<\/strong><\/span>.<\/span><\/strong><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

“The history <\/strong>of naval battles <\/strong>is like a puzzle <\/strong>and this find is part of it. Direct confrontation <\/strong>between submarines <\/strong>is rare<\/strong>,” one of the participants in the search was quoted as saying.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Jantina<\/strong>” found its last refuge south of Mykonos <\/strong>at a depth of 103 meters.<\/strong> The submarine was identified <\/strong>through the archives <\/strong>of the Italian Naval History Service.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Jantina<\/strong>” was founded in 1932 <\/strong>after fighting in the Spanish Civil War<\/strong>. It was sunk on June 5, 1941<\/strong> by the British submarine <\/strong>“Bags<\/strong>“, which fired six torpedoes at once.
